Theatre Within, the grassroots non-profit behind the Annual John Lennon Tribute in New York City since 1981, is seeking candidates for its Board of Directors.

At its core, non-profit Board service is volunteer service. Its rewards may be appreciated only by those with a sincere desire to give of their time, energy and skills with the intention of making the world a better place.

Through our ongoing workshops and events, Theatre Within is making the world a better place. We are looking to build a Board that will empower us to further our creative, life-affirming mission for many years to come.

With a long history of offering transformational workshops in creative expression and mindfulness, Theatre Within is a small grassroots non-profit with a big positive impact. Our current focus is on providing ongoing, free workshops for the NY-metro cancer community at Gilda’s Club, NYC.
We provide workshops in meditation, songwriting and art (with more in the planning stage) for children who have lost a parent to cancer, adult cancer survivors, and those undergoing treatment. Our programs include the John Lennon Real Love Project, our songwriting workshop launched, with the warm cooperation of Yoko Ono, in 2014 at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx.

In addition, Theatre Within promotes the practice of mindfulness by offering quarterly meditation workshops that are open to the public and free to all.

Our unique multi-artist concerts, including our acclaimed Annual John Lennon Tribute, help raise funds in support of our good work. The Annual John Lennon Tribute attracts top artists, from Jackson Browne to Patti Smith, and fans from around the world.

In order to create a solid financial foundation from which to operate, we are actively looking for Board members to help fundraise and expand our donor base. Board members provide ethical and financial oversight, and serve as organizational ambassadors. We are seeking Board members to serve a term through the end of 2020 and play a key role in helping bring our Annual John Lennon Tribute to a major New York venue.
