Bob Dylan met George Harrison in 1964, when he famously introduced the Beatles to pot. Dylan and Harrison became friends and later got together at Dylan’s home in Woodstock where they co-wrote “I’d Have You Anytime,” the opening track of Harrison’s masterpiece, All Things Must Pass, which also included the Bard’s “If Not For You” and Harrison’s “I’d Have You Anytime,” written as a plea to Dylan to come out of his shell.
In 1971 Dylan appeared with Harrison at the legendary Concert for Bangladesh, which set the standard for the modern rock charity benefit. In 1988 Dylan and Harrison joined forces again as part of the Traveling Wilburys.
After Harrison’s death in 2002, Dylan paid tribute to him at a concert at Madison Square Garden, where he said, “He (George) was such a good buddy of mine,” before performing “Something.”
