Celebrating John Lennon’s Birthday at Three Schools in Lynbrook, NY!

In the fall of 2024, thanks to a partnership between Theatre Within and the Lynbrook Public School District, the John Lennon Real Love Project visited the district’s three elementary schools.

On October 8, 2024, the day before what would have been John’s Lennon’s 84th birthday, the fall season of the John Lennon Real Love Project kicked off at Waverly Park Elementary School.

"The John Lennon Real Love Project provided our students with the wonderful opportunity to work with real songwriters and have a special connection with John Lennon that they never would have had otherwise."
— Adrianna Schaefer, Director of Performing Arts

On John Lennon’s birthday we visited Marion Street Elementary School for the second of three programs in Lynbrook.

"The John Lennon Real Love Project gives children a real-life songwriting experience, from the brainstorming process all the way to singing and recording.  The program helps children realize that they can use music to express the feelings they have every day.”
— Anna Upston, Teacher, Marion St. Elementary School

"The John Lennon Real Love Project was an amazing opportunity for our children to engage with each other to promote the message of love and being inclusive."  — Terry Macchia, Principal, Marion St. Elementary School

Our third and final day in Lynbrook brought us to West End Elementary School.

"I’m so grateful for the John Lennon Real Love Project coming to our school. It gave our students a way to talk about and promote love and kindness in our community."
— Jody Abrams, Teacher, West End Elementary School

"The John Lennon Real Love Project is awesome! As superintendent I am so happy to see it at all three of our elementary schools."  — Paul Lynch, Superintendent, Lynbrook Public Schools
