Since 1962, Theatre Within has offered workshops in creative expression and mindfulness, with an emphasis on opening the heart and being fully present.
In 2020, we will provide 80-100 free workshops – in songwriting, art, meditation and more – for children and adults impacted by cancer at Gilda’s Club NYC and Gilda’s Club Westchester.

Meditation As The Still Point
Ryushin Marchaj, former Abbot of
the Zen Mountain Monastery, leads this transformational workshop offering simple instruction in Zazen (seated meditation) and ongoing opportunities to practice mindfulness in a supportive setting.
The Brooklyn Puppet Conspiracy
Led by David Fino, founder of the Brooklyn Puppet Conspiracy, this engaging workshop teaches participants how to construct puppets and bring them to life.
Writing Personal Essays
Our newest workshop, led by veteran comedy writer and essayist John Ficarra, longtime Executive Editor of MAD Magazine, explores the basics of how to conceive, write and publish a personal essay.
In addition, Theatre Within offers quarterly meditation workshops that are open to the public.
Starting in the fall of 2019, contingent on funding, Theatre Within will offer the John Lennon Real Love Project to public schools in the New York tri-state area at no cost.
